The meaning of life

I appeal to you therefore, brother, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind., that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I bid everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but think sober judgement, each according to the mesure of faith which God has assigned him. For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving, he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does act of mercy, with cheerfulness.

O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him, and through him, and to him are all things.

When Jesus came into the district of Caeasarcea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do men say the son of man is? And they said Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered him, "blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the key's to the Kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

Jesus began to show his disciplesthat he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying, "God forbid, Lord! this shall never happen to you." But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men." Then Jesus told his disciples, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoeverwould save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For whatwill is profit a man, if he gainsthe whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? fFor the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done."
